In the year 2008, Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta had alleged that her co-star Nana Patekar harassed her while filming a song for their movie Horn Ok Please. Not just that, when she denied filming, Nana reportedly even sent out goons with the help of his connections with the Maharashtra Navnirman Seva (MNS) party to vandalise her car.
The visuals of the same have been doing the rounds on the internet. Tanushree reiterated the incident recently during an interview which kickstarted a Me Too movement in India.
Dutta has now finally filed a police complaint against Nana and others who she alleged were complicit in the action. Nana had slapped a legal notice to Dutta following which she took this action. Tanushree even recorded her statement with the police recently wherein she narrated the entire ordeal again.
Now, MNS party chief Raj Thackeray has come out in support of Patekar and in a statement to Times Now admitted that while Nana was indecent, he doesn’t think he can harass anyone.
He said, “I know Nana Patekar; he is indecent. He does crazy things but I don’t think he can do such a thing. Court will look into it. What is the media to do with it? #MeToo is a serious matter, the debate over it on Twitter isn’t right.” Nana, on the other hand, hasn’t reacted to the allegations but was heard saying, ‘truth is the same as he had said 10 years back.’
Let’s hope that truth and only truth prevails.
